HISTORY
The Twinning Charter was signed in 1968, making WVTA one of the oldest twinning associations in the country.
The charter is displayed in Wimborne Minster Town Hall.

WHAT WE DO
We try to help families and individual members to make friends in our twin town. Accommodation is usually en famille. Once contact has been made, English and French friends often continue their link on their own.

SPORTING AND CULTURAL GROUPS
Sporting and cultural groups are helped to contact their opposite numbers with a view to taking part in events together. Once contact has been made, English and French clubs usually continue their link on their own.

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
There is a full social programme throughout the year in Wimborne including games of Boules (Pétanque), dinners, cream teas, barbecues, skittles, wine tastings, quizzes, and other events.

MANAGEMENT and FINANCE
WVTA is entirely run by volunteers so that we are independent of local government. Our income is derived from members’ subscriptions and advertising, with an occasional small grant from the Town Council.

KEEPING IN TOUCH
We send members a regular Newsletter to keep them informed of current and future activities. Copies also go to our friends in Valognes and to all our advertisers
